Police believe Carmen Thomas killed

Police believe Auckland mother Carmen Thomas has been killed and her body disposed of.

Ms Thomas has not been seen since June 27, and police said blood had been found in her car, which was located in Hamilton on July 5. A number of personal items, including an overnight bag and cash, were found in the car.

A wheelie bin has been missing from her home address in Ngapuhi St, Remuera, although police are not saying what the relevance that has.

There have been no corroborated sightings of Ms Thomas since June 27 and an extensive police search, which included trawling through hours of CCTV footage and scouring areas near her home, has failed to find her.

Ms Thomas, who worked as an escort in Auckland, has a five-year-old son, Jack, who is living with his father.

She was originally from South Africa and her mother, Teresa Scott, flew to New Zealand to help with the police search but has since returned home.

On a Facebook page dedicated to finding her, Ms Thomas' aunty, Carol Louise Lavagna, writes she keeps hoping and praying that this is all a nasty dream and Ms Thomas will give her a call.

Police are appealing for any sightings of Ms Thomas' dark Nissan Pulsar three-door hatchback, registration number ATS 209, being driven on the night of July 7.
