Five Auckland prison inmates have been charged with the murder last month of fellow inmate Tue Faavae.

The five men, along with a sixth charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder, were charged after a month-long investigation at Auckland Prison at Paremoremo.

The charge follows the death of Faavae, 23, a Samoan-born inmate whose body was found inside East Wing cell block in the prison on March 1.

All six men, aged between 19 and 28, will appear in the North Shore District Court tomorrow.
