A 14-year-old Kaitaia College pupil was seriously injured this morning when she was hit by a bus.
The incident happened at about 8.50am on Redan Road outside the college.
The girl was taken to Kaitaia Hospital, and next of kin are at her bedside.
The Police Serious Crash Unit is at the scene and completing a crash investigation. The road is closed and diversions are in place.
The Commercial Vehicle Investigation Unit will also be involved in the investigation.
