A girl was raped after being forced into the back of a car on her way home from school in Hamilton, police say.
The girl was walking home when was approached by a white vehicle on Durham St about 3.20pm on February 27.
Detective Sergeant Robbie Hermann said a man got out of the vehicle, grabbed the girl forced her into the van and raped her.
He said she took a few days to report the attack because she was upset and frightened.
"This is not unusual for victims who have been traumatised to such a degree.''
The offender is described as a clean-shaven, solidly-built Maori or Polynesian man with short black hair aged about 20, driving a white hatchback.
