Te Puke man charged with raping intellectually handicapped woman

A Te Puke man appeared in Tauranga District Court today charged with raping an intellectually handicapped woman.

Bryce Lloyd Glover, 27, entered no plea and was remanded until September 4 over the incident, alleged to have happened yesterday.

Strict bail conditions included a reporting clause and non-association with the alleged victim and her family.

According to the police summary of facts, Glover and the woman had known each other for a number of years. Their relationship involved exchanging text messages.

Glover allegedly took the woman, who is believed to have a mental age of less than 10 years, to a Te Puke house where no one was home.

Police said the offending happened in a bedroom with the door locked from the inside.

When Glover went to the kitchen, the victim left the property and went home. Police were alerted a short time later.
