A 15-year-old boy will appear in Hamilton District Court today seeking bail after he was arrested and charged following a stabbing in Paeroa early on Friday morning.
The teen has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and male assaults female.
He was arrested on Friday and appeared in court on Saturday where he was remanded in custody to reappear today.
The weapon police believe was used to stab the 25-year-old victim was recovered from the offender, Detective Glenn Ewing of the Waihi CIB said.
The victim and his sister, 20, were walking home in Paeroa about 1.30am when they got into a fight with three men and a woman, Mr Ewing said.
The victim was flown to Auckland Hospital in a critical condition but would survive the attack, police said over the weekend.
