A teenager has been killed and another seriously injured when the car they were travelling in crashed into a pole in north Canterbury early this morning.
Emergency services were called to the crash about 1.45am, Inspector Lindsay Turner said.
The two men, believed to be aged about 18, were in a car which went into a pole on Flaxton Rd, south of Rangiora.
One of the men died, while the other was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
It was not yet known what caused the crash, Mr Turner said.
