Motorists in the central North Island are being urged to drive with care following two slips on State Highway 1 near Taihape today.
The road was open again this afternoon after a large slip blocked the road at Utiku, 8km southeast of Taihape this morning, and another south of Waiouru.
There was still a lot of surface water and high winds, which made driving conditions difficult.
"We are asking people over the next two or three days to take care," said New Zealand Transport Agency spokesman Anthony Frith.
