A jury deliberating over 35 criminal charges faced by former MP Taito Phillip Field appeared in court late this morning to seek direction from the judge.
The query by the jury of six women and four men asked Judge Rodney Hansen was not said in open court, but they were told to try and reach a verdict on each count unanimously.
"The way you proceed to achieve that goal is up to you," Judge Hansen said.
The jury has been deliberating since 12.30pm last Thursday.
The trial at the High Court at Auckland has lasted more than 14 weeks.
Field, the former Mangere MP, faced 12 charges of bribery and corruption as an MP alleging he had Thai nationals carry out work on his properties in return for immigration assistance between, November 2002 and October 2005.
He also faces 23 charges of wilfully attempting to obstruct or pervert the course of justice after allegedly trying to derail investigations into the work on his home.
Protesters, who had been at court since last Thursday, were again gathered outside the courtroom today and one of them had been removed.
