Otago Boys High School beat champions and fierce rivals Southland Boys, but the round belonged to the Kings High School first XV who went on the rampage and scored 17 tries to beat Southland's Verdon College 110-0 in Dunedin today.
It was the highest score notched up in the three years of the Highlanders First XV competition.
Kings led 67-0 at halftime and continued its scoring spree in the second spell.
Tim Tolovae, in the midfield, cut through at will and scored four tries, lock Patelo Faasee three and prop Asia Taana two tries.
First five-eighth Gifford Henry kicked 12 conversions and a penalty goal and scored a try to score 32 points.
In a key game Otago Boys' beat last year's champions Southland Boys' 19-3.
No 8 Stefan van Leeuwen displayed a cool temperament when he kicked a 40m penalty goal from close to the touch line to give John McGlashan a 15-all draw with South Otago.
Wing Stephen Butler sprinted 50m to score a late try to give Waitaki Boys' a 33-24 win over Kavanagh College. The movement started 5m from their own line when second five-eighth Levi Fogarty grabbed turnover ball and ran to halfway.
