Kākā visits backyard

Further to the article in Saturday's edition of the ODT regarding the confirmed sighting of a kākā at Kākā Point.

Our story is a little closer to home, in fact our backyard in Invercargill.

On a regular occasion we have been visited not by one but two kākā.

They seem to be attracted to our tui feeder but because of the shape of their beak, they have trouble feeding from it but insist in tipping the contents onto the ground.

All very entertaining.

So the kākā are alive and well in Invercargill.
