Mary Poppins in Dunedin for 'Luck of the Irish'

Soprano Bryony Williams joins ‘Luck of the Irish’ at Mosgiel Coronation Hall in Dunedin on Thursday, February 22 at 11am.

Bryony joins the Operatunity cast to celebrate all things Irish at Mosgiel Coronation Hall, 99 Gordon Rd. Bryony joins fiddler extraordinaire Jess Hindin and Operatunity’s core team of Sue Boland, Bonaventure Allan-Moetaua & Karl Perigo.

Bryony, who counts New Plymouth as her ‘home town’, recently performed as Mary Poppins in New Plymouth Operatic Society's musical of the same name.

Born in England’s Canterbury, Bryony has had a highly successful music career in both England and New Zealand. Studying at the New Zealand School of Music, Bryony completed a Bachelor of Music and Postgraduate Diploma in Classical Voice.

She has performed several famous roles such as Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the title role in Handel’s Alcina, Ino in Semele, and most recently Mary in Mary Poppins with the New Plymouth Operatic Society.

Bryony has also performed at venues all over the world including the Sydney Opera House, Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, the Oxford Lieder Festival, a UK and Ireland tour performing La Traviata, and the BBC Proms at Royal Albert Hall in Der Rosenkavalier.

Bryony has received scholarships from the IFAC Australian Singing Competition and the Sir John Fisher Foundation, and was the winner of the 2013 Frederic Cox Award and the Joyce & Michael Kennedy Award for the Singing of Strauss.

With Irish dancing, famous haunting ballads, funny ditties and limericks, singalongs, Irish jokes and mad fiddling, the Luck of the Irish is sure to be a show to please anyone who has Irish in their blood or a little bit of Irish in their hearts!
