At a dinner function for the recipients and their families’ the young women were presented with their Queen’s Award badges.
The Girls’ Brigade Queen’s Award is a two-year programme of demanding work which includes six months voluntary community service, two initiative tasks, an assignment and attending a national assessment weekend.
Janet completed her voluntary service working at Breakfast Church, her initiative tasks were:
- Dessert Night Fundraiser
- Master Chef Night
And her assignment was: Art -An Exploration of Acrylic and Watercolour
Open to young women aged from 15 – 25, it is an international award of the highest merit and recognises qualities of leadership, dedication and excellence in areas of community life.
