House sparrow tops bird count poll

    It’s probably no surprise — the most counted bird in New Zealand gardens is the house sparrow.

    Although official statistics are still to be completed, Manaaki Whenua-Landcare Research’s initial indicators from the annual bird count show that sparrows topped the poll.
