At nearly $200 a bottle in 1986, Chateau Petrus is a steal — if, like the Dunedin Winelovers Club, you have $2000 to splash around.

The club's B Team had recently won the New Zealand Wine Options Championship in Christchurch and part of the prize was $2000 to spend on a selection of wines of their choice.

They spent the night of January 21, 1986, enjoying the fruits of their labours at a celebratory dinner.

Raising glasses for a congratulatory toast are the successful team-members (from left) Mr M. Frawley, Mr N. Chan, Mrs Kay Morganty and Mr D. Pilgrim.
