Filming of the children’s television drama Moon Jumper began in Dunedin this week in 1985 using a local cast of about 13 actors plus stand-ins.

Director-producer Huntly Eliott (left) directs three of the main characters during filming at the set in the old Roslyn Mills building.

Seated is Brian McNeill, Tony McKeown (centre) who plays Sam, and Fiona Anderson who plays Niki, a teenager who with her horse Moon Jumper becomes a successful showjumping team.

Looking on in the background is cameraman Ross Wilson.

The six-episode series was expected to take about 10 weeks to film.
