It might not have opened yet, but Ranfurly's new hospital got the thumbs up from a group of people who had a "sneak peek" of the facility last weekend.

The schedule for Saturday's Maniototo Hospital staff reunion included a tour of the new hospital and rest-home and it was a "beautiful" facility, former Maniototo Hospital registered nurse Joyce Cleuth, now of Mosgiel, said.

"I couldn't fault it. The decor, the planning, everything about it has been well thought out.

"It was absolutely beautiful," she said.

Maniototo Hospital Services Ltd chairman Stuart Paterson said the audit of the new completed facility had been done and it was hoped the 26-room, $7million hospital would be officially opened next month.

One of the hospital reunion organisers, Denise Baddock, said the reunion was "perfectly timed" for a "sneak peek" of the new facility.

Everyone had "loved" touring it, and those attending the reunion had enjoyed catching up.

Former hospital matron Bev Reid, nee Hall, grew up on a farm in Ranfurly and said she "absolutely adored" her life in the Maniototo and the hospital was a "lovely place to work".
