Complaint against manager being investigated by police

Police have confirmed a complaint against the management of the Clyde Holiday Park is being investigated.

The Otago Daily Times understands the complaint centres on the alleged harassment and following of a 17-year-old girl by Clyde Holiday Park and Sporting Complex lessee Gary Ryan outside the grounds of the holiday park on December 29.

The mother of the girl, who did not wish to be named, said she had originally lodged a complaint with the Central Otago District Council and had left it at that.

In the time since she had become frustrated with what she saw as a lack of action on the part of the council, she said.

‘‘I am not sweeping this under the carpet, like I feel the council has done ... I couldn’t let this aggressive attack on a public street go.’’

A police spokeswoman confirmed yesterday the incident was under ‘‘active investigation’’.

Lessees Mr Ryan and his wife Roslyn were granted a 10-year lease on the council-owned holiday park in 2019 and have been under scrutiny following a slew of complaints the ODT was made aware of over the New Year holiday period.

The council has since said it was in the process of implementing a complaints procedure for the holiday park.
