Sources in the Manuherikia Valley told the Otago Daily Times Coutts recently paid $14 million for the farm, which straddles State Highway 85 and the Manuherikia River.
The Central Otago property was owned by Larkhall Ltd and consists of two farms.
When the land was being developed in 2008, company director and spokesman Neil Hamilton said the 160ha farm on the Omakau side of the river would milk 500 cows. The rest of the land, on the Ophir side of the river, was still a work in progress at that stage.
The property includes a 55m-long bridge over the Manuherikia River and an underpass under State Highway 85.
Coutts, chief executive of Oracle Racing, reportedly co-owns more than 2000sq m of property in Whangaparoa with private beach access to Tindalls Bay on which a multimillion-dollar mansion is being built; an almost $1 million apartment in Takapuna; and land and houses on the Crown Terrace above Arrowtown, which features a private nine-hole golf course.
Last week, it was reported parties associated with Coutts were understood to have bought Oracle House in Auckland's CBD, for up to $50 million.
The real estate agent thought to be involved in the deal said the matter was confidential.
Coutts is believed to be out of the country, as is Mr Hamilton.
