Doorway leads to painful trouble for toddler

Alexandra toddler Corey Miller is giving doors a wide berth after getting his fingers stuck in one on Saturday night.

The 15-month-old managed to push his fingers between the hinges and the frame of a door at his home and then shut the door, trapping three fingers.

"Of course he was screaming and upset and we couldn't get his fingers out, so we phoned the [Alexandra] fire brigade," his father, Ed Miller said.

"Once we got him calmed down a bit, I tried to take the door off its hinges . . . he managed to get his hand out, before the fire brigade got there," Mr Miller said.

Soaking in some cold water helped Corey's fingers recover.
