Celebrating a successful fundraising event at the Roxburgh Golf Club to help with rebuilding the Roxburgh Entertainment Centre are (from left) Roxburgh Golf Club member Rudi Katz, Business South Central Lakes business navigator Gaye Henderson and Business South chief executive Mike Collins.

Each year, Business South organised a charity golf event and money raised went to a cause that was close to the course it was played on, Mr Collins said.

As Roxburgh golf course was the venue for the tournament that year, there was no better cause than the planning for and rebuilding of the Roxburgh Entertainment Centre.

The building, which included the town hall, cinema and musical theatre wardrobe, was lost in a fire on Waitangi Day. The cause of the fire was unable to be determined.

On Friday, 56 golfers, from Dunedin, Wanaka and all around Central Otago, gathered at the course known as the "Hidden Gem".

As well as the entry fee, money was raised from raffles and a silent auction for a weekend for four at Grand Casino, in Dunedin.

Prizes included vouchers from Highlands Motor Sport, Air New Zealand and wine from Central Otago vineyards.
