The chance to view the cell block at the Alexandra Police Station while staying on the "right side" of the law is being offered this weekend.
An open day with free entry will be held at the station from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday, with the Alexandra fire brigade, St John and Clyde Coastguard volunteers present, along with police staff, including a dog handler and members of the rural drink-driving and armed offenders squads.
"We all work closely together and this will give the public a chance to see what equipment and expertise is out there, to help them when they need it, " Sergeant Ian Kerrisk, of Alexandra, said.
The Otago Regional Rescue Helicopter might also be there.
A search and rescue display will be another feature of the day, and Dunstan High School's Students Against Driving Drunk group and community road safety adviser Jo Robinson will also take part.
"They can also see the inside of a prison van, get breath-tested for alcohol and see a Taser, although of course, we won't be demonstrating that," Sgt Kerrisk said.
