Four fire crews are fighting a fire in a 50m long row of trees just north of Alexandra.

A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman said they were called to the Hillview Rd blaze shortly after midday, and crews from Alexandra and Dunstan stations were sent to the location.

However, due to weather conditions on the scene two further crews were called in to tackle the fire.

The fire has been contained, and work was ongoing to fully extinguish it.

No structures have been threatened by the fire and there are no reports of injuries.
