Cromwell Police are looking for information from the public following a fuel theft and burglary at a commercial property in Tarras.
Detective Scott Vollweiler, of Alexandra, said the burglary on the corner of Jollys and Deep Creek Rds took place sometime between 5pm on Friday, June 19 and 7am Monday, June 22.
A number of items vital for day-to-day operations were taken, as well as about 1000 litres of fuel, he said.
"We understand these offences are extremely frustrating for business owners and are urging anybody with information to come forward and talk to police.
"We are seeking information from anybody who witnessed suspicious activity in the area over that weekend, as well as any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area that could assist with our investigations."
To avoid being a victim of fuel thefts Det Vollweiler recommended:
Parking vehicles with fuel caps close to the wall or another vehicle to restrict access to fuel tanks.
Trying to keep fuel out of sight and ensuring fuel tanks are secured and locked.
Installing security lighting focused on fuel tanks and refuelling areas.
Keeping an inventory of fuel consumption so any thefts could be identified quickly.
Installing fuel tank locking devices on all petrol and diesel tanks. — Allied Media
