Central Otago area response manager Senior Sergeant Ian Kerrisk said the 54-year-old man died at the scene, near the intersection of Springvale Rd and State Highway 85.
''We are aware of the identity of the motorcyclist and are working at the moment to contact next of kin.''
Emergency services were called about 5.30pm.
The driver of the truck was uninjured but shaken and Victim Support services would be in place.
The cause of the crash was not yet known, Snr Sgt Kerrisk said.
