The last of the Vincent Community Board's promotional funding for the 2008-09 year was allocated this week.
In total, $9471 was available before the end of this financial year.
The board granted Alexandra's ice-rink management committee $4840 to fund a media campaign aimed at attracting Roxburgh, Wanaka, and Cromwell residents to the Alexandra rink.
IceinLine management committee representative Nick Loughnan told the board the rink had struggled with decreasing visitor numbers in recent years, and desperately needed to attract a wider demographic.
"To people in those towns, the rink is probably one of Alexandra's best-kept secrets. We want to saturate the wider area and re-establish the rink to its former position when it was most popular, as well as generate extra visitors to the whole Alexandra area," he said.
Keep Alexandra Clyde Beautiful's request for $1000 to install a sign near the Rivers Water Tank overlooking Alexandra was also granted.
The information sign, to be placed near Alexandra's clock on the hill next to an underground water tank, would outline the history of the Alexandra Borough Reservoir-James Rivers Waterworks from 1903 to 1909.
