Central Otago WasteBusters manager Karen Noble, of Alexandra, is the first New Zealander to receive a national certificate in Zero Waste and Resource Recovery (Principles for Implementation Level 3).
Mrs Noble was presented with her certificate during a ceremony in Alexandra yesterday.
Representatives of industry training firm Exito, through which Mrs Noble completed the certificate, attended the midday presentation along with about 20 others.
Members of the Central Otago District Council, WasteBusters colleagues, and family and friends also attended the ceremony.
Mrs Noble said it was an honour to receive the qualification, and she was eager to extend her studies.
She may be eligible to become an assessor of the certificate, as well as to complete higher levels of the qualification.
