Freshwater forum chance

Otago residents will be able to have their say on freshwater management at a public meeting tomorrow.

The Land and Water Forum last year released a report recommending setting standards, targets and limits to improve water quality; more effective and efficient ways of allocating and transferring water permits; and a more consultative approach to water management.

The forum is travelling the country to give the public an opportunity to comment on the report and the Dunedin meeting will be its 14th of 18 meetings.

Forum chairman Alastair Bisley said feedback from the meetings would be considered and reported to the ministers involved.

"The critical part of this is to hear people's thoughts."

The meeting will be held in the Dunedin Public Art Gallery conference room from 7pm to 9.30pm tomorrow.
