Book buyers help club break fundraising record

Rotary Club of Oamaru Bookarama co-ordinator Cara Tipping Smith  says the club "definitely" broke its fundraising record at this year’s annual weekend donated book sale.

From Friday at 9am to noon yesterday, a "steady" stream of more than 1000 people bought "tens of thousands" of books and helped the service organisation easily eclipse its fundraising total of about $20,000 last year.

Final figures were not available yesterday, but Ms Tipping Smith said the money would be used for community projects "big and small".
