There will be a whole lot of pink going on at the CRT Tough Enough To Wear Pink rodeo at Waikouaiti on February 7.

People have been encouraged to buy pink shirts to raise money for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.

There will be spot prizes for pink-attired spectators and it was expected some horses would even be resplendent in pink.

Rodeo club committee member Henrietta Purvis said there had been a fantastic response from cowboys, cowgirls and sponsors.

"I think if there's a cowboy not wearing pink, he's going to look an idiot," she said.

Some businessmen had agreed to give a minimum of $350 for each eight-second open bull ride, with proceeds going to the foundation.

A sweepstake was being held on the open barrel race with people picking their favourite rider for $5 and those who select the winner going in the draw for a Moeraki holiday package.

"We just want people to come along and have a good fun family day and enter into the spirit of it," Mrs Purvis said.

About 250 entries have been received from throughout New Zealand.
