Fire crews have been battling a large burn-off at an East Otago property this afternoon.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said a pump and tanker from the Palmerston Volunteer Fire Brigade arrived at the scene at a Dunrobin Rd property near the intersection with McDonald Rd, about 19km northwest of Palmerston near State Highway 85, about 3.40pm.
The fire was reported at 3.19pm.
A helicopter and two additional tankers have also been requested, the spokesman said.
It was not known whether a permit had been granted for the burn-off.
There was no indication as to how the fire started.
No further information was immediately available.
