Rain forecast for North Otago, warning lifted

Waterproof clothes should be the first items picked from the rack in your wardrobe today if you live in North Otago.

A MetService spokesman said a slow-moving front was expected to move on to North Otago for a time, delivering a period of rain.

MetService has lifted the heavy rain watch in put in place for North Otago today.

Occasional rain is forecast, but the threat of significant heavy falls and rainfall accumulations reaching warning amounts are no longer expected, a MetService spokesman said.

A weak trough was expected to move across New Zealand tomorrow and the chances of severe weather remained minimal.

"On Wednesday and Thursday, a trough is forecast to affect western and northern parts of the South Island.

"Later on Friday, a low may approach New Zealand from the west, but confidence of severe weather is minimal at this stage."
