Held in the first full weekend in March each year, this year's popular motorcycle event had close to 2000 people taking part.
March Hare Motorcycle Club of Waimate president Graeme Lane said numbers were well up on the 1500 who attended last year, which he put down to having had a prolonged spell of good weather.
‘‘It's gone really well. We're up on numbers, so we had 1900 people here. With the weather being fine this year, we really picked up.''
He said the last ‘‘three or four'' years had been plagued by showers, which had kept numbers down.
The largest crowd in the last five years came in 2011, when about 3000 took part in the March Hare.
This year, it included a burnout competition, tug-of-war, bike show and tattoo competitions, among other events.
Mr Lane said all of those who took part this year were fully behind the event, which attracts motorcycle enthusiasts from around the country and overseas, and had an enjoyable weekend.
‘‘It was a happy group, they're always happy. Everybody got on with everybody, so it was great.''
Senior Sergeant Mike van der Heyden, of Waimate, said police checkpoints were set up on Sunday as riders left the venue.
‘‘Two motorcycle riders were found in [the eligible for a] fine-only range for alcohol infringements, but that was about it.
‘‘The whole event has been run really well. There's been no disorder or violence offences reported to police.''
