An Oamaru man has appeared in the Timaru District Court this morning on a slew of charges after police executed a search warrant at a Weston address near Oamaru yesterday.
Hayden Douglas Burt (28), of Oamaru, who did not enter a plea, was remanded in custody to appear on June 4.
Burt was arrested after police raided a property on Weston Rd about 2pm and charged with unlawful possession of a restricted weapon; possession of utensils for smoking methamphetamine; dealing methamphetamine; wilful damage; possession of cannabis and possession of utensils for using cannabis.
Sergeant Blair Wilkinson, of Oamaru, said the search at the property was not related to another search executed at a Percy St address on May 4, where Ricky Rigby (43) was arrested on outstanding warrants and charged with possession of utensils for smoking methamphetamine.
Armed police, including a dog squad, swarmed on to Percy St property and an armed offenders squad from Dunedin was called in as a precaution.
