Summerlands truck crashes near Omarama

Another Summerlands truck has crashed this morning, this time near Omarama.

A police spokesman said the truck crashed into a bank about 9.40am on the Twizel-Omarama road (State Highway 8).

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the accident is not known, but the NZ Transport Agency has this morning warned of black ice in the area.

This morning's crash comes just days after a Summerlands driver was injured when their truck rolled off the Lewis Pass Rd (State Highway 7).

He was taken to the Hanmer Springs Health Centre for a check-up but was later airlifted to Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition.
