Vigilance urged after another burglary

Another burglary in Oamaru has police urging residents to be vigilant and asking anyone with information to come forward.

"Obviously, there are people out there who know who's active, and even if they don't want to talk about it to us [police], they can use Crimestoppers anonymously,'' Sergeant Craig Sew Hoy, of Oamaru, said.

On Monday night, two bikes were stolen from an Usk St property.

Warren, Stoke, Reed, Eden and Ribble Sts were targeted recently, and a red Honda quad bike was stolen from a farm near Oamaru Airport on January 17 or 18.

Items targeted included cash and "easily sold'' items such as electronics.

Sgt Sew Hoy said it was "certainly'' concerning that police were continuing to receive reports of burglaries.

Monday night's offence was the eighth reported in Oamaru in four weeks.

"Looking at it, there's probably more than one person involved,'' he said.

A car parked in Eden St was broken into on Sunday night.

Anyone with information can contact Oamaru police on (03) 433-1400 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
