Volunteers firefighters battle hay blaze

Volunteer firefighters from Palmerston fought a fire in hay on a farm on Andersons Rd, above Andersons Inlet, on the coast east of Palmerston, yesterday. Firefighter Jeff Turner (above) tackles the blaze which was fanned by a near gale-force southeast wind.

The farm is leased by Scott Clearwater, of Goodwood.

The brigade transported water by tanker from Palmerston to fight the fire which was under control by noon.

Several bales of hay were destroyed.
