Workshop offers irrigation advice

Farmers will be able to get advice on how to reduce irrigation energy bills at a workshop in North Otago being run jointly by the Waitaki District Council, Waitaki Development Board and Irrigation NZ.

The workshop is aimed at assisting communities to develop quality irrigation systems and manage irrigation, and this year will include the launch of the Farmer's Guide to Successful Irrigation Design and Installation.

Irrigators and prospective irrigators, need to be aware of three things: what good design is, the costs of poor design and what to look out for when operating the system.

The Irrigation NZ road show will be held on Thursday, October 14, at the Lower Waitaki Golf Club, Hilderthorpe Rd, Oamaru.

It will include farmer case studies relevant to Waitaki.

The programme has been developed with the support of EECA, Agmardt and Fonterra.
