More than 4000 punters are expected to enjoy the 48th annual Glenorchy Races on Saturday, January 2.
A total of 10 races, all sponsored by businesses in the township, will start about 11am.
The Lakeside Rugby Club is organising the popular community event, which is held on the first Saturday after New Year's Day.
Club president Pete Reid said the number of horses racing would not be known until the day.
"It's always a bit casual and word-of-mouth, but there's plenty of horses locally and we'd expect the same number as previous years - around 30 to 40."
Glenorchy School will hold a fundraising barbecue.
Glenorchy Golf Club will host the beer tent and the hole-in-one competition.
The Glenorchy Tennis Club will sell T-shirts, and strawberries and cream will be on sale.
About $15,000 was raised from gate sales and, to a lesser extent, the equalisator last January, Mr Reid said.
"It's more to keep the betting novelty going."
The funds are managed by the club and distributed to causes in the township throughout the year.
Money was donated to the children's adventure playground, the restoration of the historic Head of the Lake Community Church and the support of young sporting talent.
Tickets cost $10 per adult at the gate and children will be admitted free.
Car entry is free and parking will be provided.
