Arrest on four charges

A 22-year-old Kurow man assaulted a doorman at the Bullock Bar in Wanaka before he kicked in the window of a police car on Saturday night, police said.

Constable Sean Hurley said two police officers restrained the intoxicated man after he became agitated and lashed out when asked to leave the premises.

The man later returned to the bar, where he was told to leave and given a trespass warning, Const Hurley said.

Police were called and he was subsequently arrested.

The man will appear at a registrar's hearing in the Queenstown District Court today, charged with assault, trespass, resisting arrest and wilful damage, Const Hurley said.

A 21-year-old Wanaka female was arrested and suspended automatically from driving after she recorded an excess breath-alcohol reading more than twice the legal limit yesterday morning, police said.

The woman was stopped on Ardmore St about 2:30am and recorded a breath-alcohol level of 822mcg, Const Hurley said.

A 42-year-old male was arrested and charged with drink-driving on Saturday morning, he said.

Both are scheduled to appear in the Queenstown District Court a week from today.
