Bollywood star Sidharth Malhotra was given a bird's eye view of Queenstown twice yesterday - from the tranquil to the extreme.

The Indian actor spent the morning floating over the resort in a hot air balloon with Sunrise Balloons.

In the afternoon, the tourism ambassador plunged towards the earth from 15,000ft in a skydive with NZONE.

"What an amazing rush! It has been on my bucket list for a while now, " Mr Sidharth said.

"Flying through the sky like that was everything I thought it would be and more. The feeling of free-falling in Queenstown is surreal, but I felt completely at ease knowing that my jumpmaster was in control.''

Sidharth said he would recommend the activity to his friends and fans. Moments after the jump, he shared his joy with his 2.4 million followers on Twitter.

"Just crossed one thing off my bucket list: skydiving in New Zealand! #NZMustDo #SidNZ @NzoneSkydive EPIC! INSANE! UNBELIEVABLE," he tweeted.

Hosted by Tourism New Zealand, Mr Sidharth was filming videos highlighting the country's best features - from the scenery to adventure sports. He would also deliver messages about safe driving.

The heart-throb actor finished the day in Queenstown relaxing in Onsen Hot Pools. Sidharth would leave the resort this afternoon shooting some video, before heading to Northland. He leaves New Zealand on Monday.
