The first tenant to open at Terrace Junction is banking on environmental sustainability with its fit-out by a Queenstown construction company.
Westpac is working with Rilean Construction to install energy management, recycling and eco-friendly measures in the premises within the $25 million office and retail complex at Frankton.
Rilean Construction director Steve McLean said in a statement the company was increasingly aware of the sustainability requirements of developer and tenants during building and fitouts.
"We're very happy to work with them to help install all the latest high efficiency lighting and sensors, incorporate a recycling station into the fitout and re-use or recycle old furniture where we can.
"It's an area of our business that is certainly growing as more clients - particularly corporate clients - expect us to be able to deliver buildings . . . in line with these cultural changes."
The official opening will take place on October 31.
Stage one of Terrace Junction will feature Westpac, a drive-through Burger King, Bridgman & Dean Optometrists and Bettys Liquor Store as ground-floor tenants.
Office space above these businesses will be occupied by ECOS Building Consulting, Frankton Hair Studio, Mitchell Mackersy Lawyers and a Queenstown medical professional Stage 2 is scheduled to open in December.
