Decision awaited on consents

A controversial retirement village development in Wanaka remains in limbo, as opponents await the official release of a resource consent decision.

It is understood a decision has been made regarding Stoney Creek Village Ltd's proposal to build and operate an 85-unit, 10-building apartment complex for a retirement village at the Mt Aspiring Rd entrance to Meadowstone.

The Auckland-based developers of Stoney Creek Village could not be contacted by the ODT yesterday.

Queenstown Lakes District Council planning and regulations authority Lakes Environmental is in charge of processing resource consent applications, but resource consents manager Rachel Beer would not comment on whether a decision had been reached.

The ODT understands a decision has been made and that Lakes Environmental is waiting for the payment of outstanding fees from the applicant before the decision is released.
