A 24-year-old Wanaka man was more than three times over the breath-alcohol limit when he was stopped driving on Anderson Rd in Wanaka at 12.30am yesterday, police said.
Sgt Paul Crosswell said it was "extremely concerning" the man's breath-alcohol recording was 1252mcg, more than three times the 400mcg limit.
"I would say he would have had trouble seeing past the end of his nose," he said.
Sgt Crosswell did not have any information about where the man had been drinking.
