The society would continue its 11-year tradition of screening an eclectic mix of classics, world cinema and the best of New Zealand film, "all adding up to a great way to spend those winter Tuesday evenings", society president Tanya Surrey said.
"This year's line-up is no exception, featuring something for everyone, including music-scene revelry in 24 Hour Party People, sci-fi masterpiece Solaris and fast-paced early musical Footlight Parade, not to mention The Asphalt Jungle, the film which made Marilyn Monroe a star," Ms Surrey said.
The society brings back the popular Local Short Films night to give professional and amateur film-makers the chance to see their work on the big screen and before an audience.
Queenstown Lakes district-themed films of up to 15 minutes were to be submitted on DVD by June 30 for selection for screening on September 25.
Screenings take place at Dorothy Brown's Cinema, Arrowtown, every Tuesday night from May 1 to November 13 except during the school holidays.
Membership costs $120 a year, or less than $5 per film.
Half-year membership was available at $70 and three-film sampler tickets cost $30.
