No decision on Trenz venue for 2012

The venue for next year's travel trade expo Trenz could be announced next month, but event managing body the Tourism Industry Association is "neither confirming nor denying at this point" whether Queenstown will play host again.

The resort and the Southern Lakes were on display when about 900 international travel buyers, New Zealand tourism operators and media delegates attended Tourism Rendezvous New Zealand (Trenz), in Queenstown for the first time, last month.

Southern Lakes operators were able to take buyers and travel writers on familiarisation trips so they could experience their products first-hand, instead of relying on videos and brochures.

Association spokeswoman Ann-Marie Johnson, of Wellington, said feedback overall had been "pretty good", most of those attending having felt it was a successful event.

Exhibitors felt there were generally good-quality buyers during the four-day event and definitely potential for future business, Ms Johnson said.

The location was deemed "spectacular" by many and those attending were excited to take Trenz to a new location, she said.
