Queenstown cop charged

A Queenstown police officer faces one charge of using offensive language following an incident that happened in a taxi in the resort last November.

The 43-year-old woman is due to appear in the Queenstown District Court on March 18.

In November, Otago Rural acting area commander Inspector Andrew Burns confirmed police had received a complaint in relation to the alleged incident between the constable and a Queenstown Taxis driver.

''The constable was on leave without pay at the time the incident occurred and continues to be on leave without pay,'' he said.

She remains on leave without pay.
