Queenstown children can start warming up their voices for the Solid Gold Radiothon for Variety, from 1pm to 4pm at the Queenstown Mall on Saturday.
Variety, the Children's Charity and Solid Gold FM have teamed up again this year to help raise funds for the Variety Kids on the Move programme.
The programme was created to get disabled children moving with independence using mobility equipment.
"Money will be used to buy specialised bikes, trikes and trampolines for children with physical restrictions," said chief executive of Variety Lorraine Taylor.
Last year the radiothon raised $50,000. With the help of Queenstown's busking and barbecue event in the mall on the same day, it is hoped to better this tally this year.
Variety helps more than 9000 New Zealand children and their families every year. It has raised $12 million over 22 years.
During the radiothon weekend, celebrities will also team up in the Solid Gold studio.
Raffle tickets will be sold on the day for a trip for two to Rarotonga worth $3425. An online charity auction will be selling items such as five-star nights at The Lofts apartments in Queenstown, a walk-on part in The Almighty Johnsons, tickets to Toast Martinborough and a lap in a V8 Supercar at Hampton Downs.
