Queenstown Swimming Club members picked up a record haul in the South Island swimming championships held in Invercargill last weekend.
A squad of 11 swimmers won five gold, three silver and five bronze medals.
Sophie Gibson won medals in every event she entered - gold in the girls 13 and under 400m individual medley and 100m butterfly, silver in the 50m and 200m butterfly and bronze in the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke, and individual medley. She capped the weekend by gaining a qualifying time for the New Zealand Open 200m backstroke.
Recent New Zealand age group bronze medallist Patrick Harris won three golds in the boys 13 and under 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke and a bronze in the 200m individual medley.
He also set South Island record in the 50m and 200m backstroke.
Both Harris and Gibson gained places in Otago selection relay teams.
Nikayla Bolsch, a recent arrival at the club from Cromwell, won silver in the girls 13 and under 100m breaststroke.
The team finished seventh overall out of 21 clubs.
