Recycling revised

Smart Environmental's recycling services begin in Wanaka on March 5, with new crates to be delivered to eligible properties from Monday, February 20.

The days of the street collection have been revised and will be spread over five weekdays, with the details to be advertised well in advance of the service date, solid wastes manager Stefan Borowy reported to the Queenstown Lakes District Council infrastructure services committee this week.

"Wanaka Wastebusters will continue to operate a commercial recycling collection service in Wanaka and the Wanaka Wastebusters site will be open for customers to drop off recyclables on a user pays basis," Mr Borowy said.

Wanaka Wastebusters communications adviser Gina Dempster said yesterday the site's recycling charge would be $1 for a 100-litre crate (the size of the existing recycling crate).

Wanaka Wastebusters will continue to do business recycling collections, she confirmed.
